MEDICINE AND THE PRACTICE OF POLITICS

I had my annual physical the other day and spent some quality time with my doctor. He is a relatively young man in his late 30’s with a good bedside manner. After saying hello. he gave me three words to remember, then handed me a blank sheet of paper and asked me to draw a clock…showing the time 10 minutes after 11:00. After acing the test, and remembering two of the three words, he continued with more questions. Do I have trouble remembering things? I reminded him I was on time for my appointment today. We talked about sleep, exercise, and medications. I told him I sleep every night…I confessed I should exercise a little more often…and I do not take any medications.

Then…I asked him… if I started to show signs of the “fake” virus would he write me a prescription for Ivermectin…he started to fidget, sunk a little lower into his chair, turning his head back and forth saying…no. Knowing my background, he knew what was coming. I asked him why? He preceded to uncomfortably explain that his superiors wouldn’t allow it. I asked him why? That’s when I got the deer in the headlights look. I looked him in the eye and said…so, it is not medicine you practice…its politics, right? He just froze in his chair... I then told him he sure picked a heck of a time to practice medicine...and he agreed...
With respect to Medicine, the “Hippocratic Oath is the oldest and most widely known treatise on medical ethics. It requires new physicians to swear by numerous healing gods and dictates the duties and responsibilities of the physician while treating patients. There are two versions of the Hippocratic Oath: the original one and the modern one. The need for a revision was felt as drastic procedures like abortions & surgeries became commonplace and medically valid, questioning a physician’s morals anew.” So, to make it more comfortable…the modern Hippocratic Oath simply removed God from the oath itself.

With respect to Politics, there seems to be no known treatise on political ethics (just ask the Utah Republican Party). While Politics has a set of specific meanings that are descriptive and nonjudgmental (such as “the art or science of government” and "political principles"), it can and often does carry a negative meaning closely related to “political activities characterized by artful and often dishonest practices”.

Just as I do not want my Politician practicing medicine…I do not want my doctor practicing politics!

In his article titled “The Medical Profession Implodes,” (American Thinker, December 13, 2021) Dr. Steve Karp writes that” in ‘normal’ times, the practice of medicine has many challenges, some from within and some from outside the profession.  If you let it, much of your daily practice follows specialty guidelines, insurance company criteria, hospital formularies, and other annoyances.  None of those entities have any liability when it comes to our patients.  For the most part, liability lies with the treating physician.”

Each specialty, he says, “plays a particular role in a patient’s care and specialists often view issues from different angles while wearing their tunnel-vision glasses.  For instance, some physicians view elevated cholesterol as an indicator to assess other potential underlying medical issues, while a cardiologist will just write a prescription for a statin drug, just as a cat reflexively chases a mouse.”

“What changed overnight and across the board, was an anti-science attitude across all specialties to everything related to COVID.  A viral infection is not something requiring government management, rather, its encounter is part of a physician’s daily medical practice.  The government has seemingly accomplished what medical insurers, medical boards, and hospitals tried, but had not yet succeeded at: complete mind control of physicians.  And with that, the last vestige of respect I had for my profession died.”

Apparently, my doctor’s superiors (Select Health - Intermountain Health Care) have accepted the government BS, ignoring the fine points of PCR tests, the science of personal isolation or masking, the appropriate use of indoor ventilation systems and their management, the changing of standard and long-extant medical definitions, and the introduction of gene therapy used as vaccines. This is all nonsense!

According to Dr. Karp, “most physicians have not bothered to review yearly influenza data, the time frame for vaccine development, or refresh their memory on definitions such as vaccine, vaccination, and immunization, or cell biology regarding DNA, RNA, mRNA and reverse transcriptase.  Nor had they read up on symptoms commonly associated with influenza-like illness, vaccination effectiveness for influenza, or potential issues while ‘vaccinating” during active mutation of infectious diseases.”

For what can only be political, all things COVID have become the medical exception for the last two years. “Regarding the lapse of critical thinking skills, here are some examples that should have given physicians pause in digesting the propaganda diet they were fed.  If I can easily spread COVID to someone by breathing on them, why is there the need to swab the deep recesses of the nose?  Why is the PCR test’s methodology omitted from reports sent to physicians?  When were masks ever recommended except for those with a known contagious disease such as active tuberculosis, or those with transient low white blood cell counts?  When has gene therapy ever been used other than in cases of incurable disease?

From the time our government created a pandemic alert to the rollout of the jabs, where was the inquisitiveness of physicians?  “Wisdom is a combination of knowledge, experience, and judgment.  Knowledge can be imparted, experience gained, but judgment is an inherent quality, not acquired through instruction.  You either possess good judgment or you don’t.”  For some reason, many physicians (my own included) are not well equipped when it comes to good judgement or are too intimidated by their superiors  to exercise good judgement in line with their Hippocratic Oath.

“The dilemma for physicians’ seeming lack of judgment does not lie in the future since the future is now, represented by VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System).  Significant adverse events and deaths due to the vaccine are getting harder to hide or hide from.”

So, “how do you ask a man to be the last man to die from the COVID vaccine? How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?" All things COVID will eventually pass.  Few things last forever. But at some point, physicians will pay a price for their poor judgment in suspending critical thinking while ignoring their Hippocratic Oath.
