STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE REVIEW
Schedule:
September 17, 2024 (7:00pm) at the Roy Library Black Box Theater
October 30, 2024 (7:00pm) at the Roy Library Black Box Theater
As the governing and policy-making body of the Utah Republican Party, the State Central Committee (SCC) is a deliberative assembly using parliamentary procedure to debate and decide Party policy. Meetings can go on for many hours for the purpose of unhurried consideration and discussion.
Critical policies like using paper ballots vs. cell phones for Convention elections, collapsing precincts to consolidate power, holding elected officials in the party accountable, limiting access to delegate data and how to protect and promote the Caucus system are debated and decided by the SCC at least four times a year. "At each State Central Committee Meeting the dates for the next four meetings shall be announced and notice of these meetings shall be sent with the notice of the Central Committee Meeting."
In order to stay informed regarding SCC actions, Weber County Conservatives will schedule a Meeting Overview the first Thursday evening after each SCC meeting. Meetings will be held in the Black Box at either the Roy Library or the Pleasant Valley Library at 7:00pm.
Our first meeting will be at the Pleasant Valley Library on May 23, 2024 (the first Thursday after the May 18th SCC meeting). Look for text reminders of our meetings.
The purpose of our Review is to give party members a chance to learn what the SCC is working on while giving our SCC representatives the opportunity to inform the grass roots on current issues challenging the party. Weber County has 10 member representatives on the Committee and we will invite all 10 members to join us to share their experiences and concerns and take questions regarding policy decisions to be debated or made by the SCC.
Possible discussion points:
The State Central Committee meets at least quarterly and must have a quorum in attendance to conduct binding business.
Additionally, no business may be considered at an SCC meeting unless properly noticed by inclusion on the agenda.
Understanding the process is part of our Education and Training at Weber County Conservatives. Thank you in advance to our SCC members for participating in our Overview Meetings.
