Precinct Script
Here’s a practical, effective script for a Precinct Chair (or appointed host if you're the outgoing chair) to run a smooth, compliant Neighborhood Caucus in Weber County, Utah Republican Party. This is based on the official Utah GOP agenda and rules (from precinctportal.org, utgop.org bylaws, and sample scripts like Cache County's). The state sets a fixed agenda...no amendments allowed...and the process must stay welcoming, orderly, and focused.
The caucus date is March 17, 2026, typically starting at 7:00 PM at your assigned location (school, church, etc....check precinctportal.org or webergop.org for your precinct details). Aim for 60–90 minutes total; keep energy high and decorum strict.
Preparation Tips Before the Meeting (for the Chair/Host)
Caucus Script (Read Aloud as Host/Chair)
1. Call to Order & Welcome/Introductions (5–10 minutes) "Good evening, everyone! Welcome to the [Precinct Number/Name] Neighborhood Caucus for the Weber County Republican Party. My name is [Your Name], your [Precinct Chair / tonight's Caucus Host].
Thank you for coming...this is where grassroots Republicans start shaping our party, electing leaders, and sending delegates to county and state conventions who will vet and nominate America First candidates.
We follow the official Utah Republican Party agenda tonight...no changes allowed. We'll keep things efficient, respectful, and on time.
First, let's do a quick sign-in if you haven't already. Please write your name, address, and confirm you're a registered Republican in this precinct. Only eligible participants vote or run for office, but anyone can observe as long as decorum is maintained.
Quick introductions: Raise your hand if this is your first caucus...welcome! We're glad you're here.
Any questions before we start? (Pause briefly.) Great...let's begin."
2. Prayer (1 minute) "I'll call on [name a volunteer or ask for one] to offer an opening prayer. (After prayer:) Thank you."
3. Pledge of Allegiance (1 minute) "Please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance. (Lead it.) 'I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America...' Thank you—please be seated."
4. Reading of the State or County Platform (5 minutes) "Next, we'll read key portions of the Utah Republican Party Platform (or Weber County version if preferred). This reminds us why we're here. (Read aloud selected sections...focus on core principles like limited government, individual rights, election integrity, family values...or have a volunteer read. Better to hand out cutouts the Party Planks to different attendees to read out loud each Plank. Keep to 3–5 minutes max.) Any brief comments on the platform? (Limit to 1–2 short statements if time allows; no debate.)"
5. Review of Rules, Procedures, & Duties (10 minutes) "Now, a quick review of the rules and duties...please listen carefully.
6. Nominations and Elections (20–40 minutes—core business; this can take longer if contested) "Time for nominations and elections. We'll go in this order:
a. Precinct Chair
b. Precinct Vice Chair
c. Precinct Secretary (and/or Treasurer, if your precinct requires)
d. County Delegates e. State Delegates
For each position:
(After all elections:) Congratulations to our new officers and delegates! Please stay after if needed for paperwork or photos. Delegates: Your contact info will be submitted to Weber GOP."
7. Other Business as Directed by State/County Parties (5–10 minutes) "Any directed business from Utah GOP or Weber County GOP? (e.g., Presidential Preference Poll if applicable...collect ballots if instructed; or announcements like upcoming conventions, volunteer sign-ups.)

Anything else brief? (Limit strictly; no open forum.)"
8. Adjournment (1 minute) "Thank you all for participating—this is real power at the grassroots! Meeting adjourned. Refreshments if available, or stick around to chat with new leaders.
God bless you, and God bless the United States and the great state of Utah!"
